THE POWER OF THE QUESTION, "WHY"
WHEN TO QUIT
Mr. Fridge is forty years old, and he is a sailor. There's something intriguing about this sailor; he sets out on his ship with his crew without a course, and these crews decide the course on the sea, which is foolish, time-wasting, and purposeless. This may lead to getting late to the destination or not even getting there at all.
In the vast aspect of life, whatever field or environment. The only question that you must be able to answer is the "why" question.
Whenever you come to the realization that, in whatever you are doing, you are unable to answer the question "why", quit.
Why should you quit? It would be unwise to remain in such an environment, as it is time-wasting and purposeless.
If only Mr. Fridge's crew asked themselves, "Why are we setting out without a course?"
Are you about to make a decision, or have you taken a step about it? Rejoice and be glad; this article is for you!
CONSEQUENCES OF NOT ASKING THE QUESTION, "WHY"
1. PURPOSELESSNESS
This is the lack of clear intentions, meaning, or direction. Anyone without clear intention and direction will get anywhere; "an unknown location is still a location."
Arriving at this kind of destination is a result of the force of the wind on the sea or the strength of a tornado on land. The injuries sustained by these forces may be permanent.
2. SUCCESS DELAY
The injuries sustained may be temporary as well, but they are injuries. And there will be a late arrival at the destination as a result of the transport system.
Have you seen how the wing transports paper or nylon? It takes it from one location to another until finally dropping it in one of the locations.
3. SACRIFICE OF TIME AND OPPORTUNITY
Getting late to the location will result in the loss of a better opportunity and even nicer offers. Like the phrase "Better late than never," you will achieve that goal, although late and losing better opportunities, with enough scars to show for it.
Every minute presents an opportunity.
I do not think anyone wants to be in this category! Let us explore the benefits of asking the question "why."
BENEFITS OF THE QUESTION, "WHY?"
1. MOTIVE DERIVATION
Take a look at this series of questions:
-Why am I taking this course?
-Why am I applying for this job?
-Why am I learning this trade?
This question sounds funny, yet you would be surprised how many students have no answer to the reason why they are in that field of study.
Before you make that decision, ask yourself, "Why?"
This might sound funny; ask yourself, "Why should I get married?" See how well you answer the question.
2. STEP EVALUATION
Take a look at this series of questions:
-Why should I go to school?
To learn.
-Why must I learn?
To get knowledge.
-Why do I need to gain knowledge?
To get access, understand.
-Why do I need understanding?
To be able to apply wisdom.
-Why should I seek wisdom?
To be able to face all life's challenges.
Now, read from below to above in this sense:
To be able to face all life's challenges, I need wisdom, but I must first get understanding through knowledge, which can only come through learning in school.
Asking why automatically creates a series of strategic steps to achieve whatever goals have been set. These steps are calculated, and they would only fail if no action was taken about them.
Now you see how "why" question strategically deduce steps to success.
3. ACCURATE COMPARISON
Accurate comparison here means getting correct information from answering two or more questions. This is very useful in times of challenges and tribulation.
Take a look at these questions and how they sound:
-Why didn't I study nursing?
-Why am I not an engineer?
-Why am I not learning data science?
However, a proper use of the why question in deriving your motives would actually avoid this process. It is better to set off with a declared purpose than to start deriving intentions and goals.
SINCERE RESPONSES
However, you can properly use "why" to derive motives or evaluate steps. But the responses you give to them are very important. Especially when deriving motives, answer the question "why" with all the sincerity you have.
It would be unwise for you to deceive yourself. Only you can tell yourself the truth, and the truth will always be true.
Now, you know why you need to ask the question "why", and the essence of sincere responses.
